Online Form Submission for JEE (Main) 2014 Exam till Dec-26

PUNE: The ongoing process for online submission of application forms for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main (Paper I), which will also be the qualifying exam for admissions to engineering colleges in the state, will end on December 26.

The state directorate of technical education (DTE) has issued a notification cautioning the students, who may wish to apply for the exam, to take note of the online form submission schedule.

Till 2012, the state government conducted the Maharashtra Health and Technology - Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET), which was the combined entrance exam for admissions to the first-year degree courses in health sciences, pharmacy and engineering in the state.

However, after the government's decision to join the Medical Council of India's single entrance test called the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) for health science courses from year 2013, the MHT-CET was withdrawn and the state had, instead, introduced the MT-CET for engineering admissions in 2013-14. The NEET has since been scrapped by the Supreme Court.

For engineering and technology courses, the Maharashtra government decided to join the JEE Main, which is to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in April 2014. As such, there will be no MT-CET from 2014 onwards and all admissions to engineering and technology institutions in the state will be done on the basis of the JEE Main score.

The DTE notification pointed out that application for the JEE Main, which commenced on November 15, are to be done only through an online process. Students wanting to apply for the exam have to visit the website: www.jeemain.nic.in for submitting their forms online. Alerts related to the JEE Main are also being provided on the DTE's official website.
