JEE-2013-Impact of JEE Mains-Advanced-JEE Replaces What

Why JEE, Its Impact and JEE Replaces What:

1. To create an umbrella or single entrance exam for all engineering aspirants in India.
2. Currently, India has 2500+ Engineering Colleges (Govt.+Private), resulting in over 50 different Entrance Examinations for admission into various Govt. & Pvt. Engineering colleges.
3. On an average a student appears in 5-­‐6 entrance exams, thereby causing unnecessary stress on them as well as on parents.
4. Additionally, giving so many exams creates lot of financial burden for the parents since each examination involves expenses like Application Fee & commuting to appear for the entrance test in various cities/at various test centres.
5. Moreover, multiple exams also pose the challenge of preparing for different syllabi and patterns for students. This further increases the stress among students.

Impact of JEE:

JEE shall replace -

1. IIT-JEE, which till 2012 will be used for admissions into 15 IITs and IT-BHU, Varanasi & ISMU, Dhanbad, IISERs, Institutes of Maritime Studies, IISc etc.
2. AIEEE, which is used for admissions into 30 NITs, 5 IIITs & several central & Pvt./deemed Universities.
3. ISAT for admissions into IIST.
4. Admission Test for 3 Indian Statistical Institutes (ISI). State PETs for admissions into Govt./Pvt. Colleges of various states.
