JEE Advanced 2014: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and their Solutions

With only five days allotted to the registrations of JEE Advanced, the process is creating chaos and confusion in the minds of the applicants. Here's a list of problems faced by the aspirants and their solutions:

Problem 1: Candidates are not reading the explanation on DS category and wrongly clicking YES and being asked to upload DS certificate in the 2nd Step.
Solution 1: Please write an undertaking that you do not belong to DS category, get it signed by yourself and your parents (giving the details of your parents) and upload the scanned image of the same in place of DS Certificate and complete Registration.

Problem 2: OBC-NCL certificate issued before 1:06:2013
Solution 2: Indicate NO when asked whether you have a valid certificate issued after 1-06-2013. You will see a message - read it carefully and do accordingly and finish your Registration. They need to upload their valid certificate from May 10 to 31, 2014 at http://jeeadv.iitkgp.ac.in using the File Upload link.

Problem 3: Class-X Certificate/ Marksheet too large to scan and upload.
Solution 3: Scan only the front part where your personal details are there along with the Date of Birth and upload and complete the registration.

Problem 4: Appeared in QE in 2013 and appeared for improvement in the data year of appearing showing as 2014.
Solution 4: Just go on and complete the Registration. Such problems will be solved later. In case the year of passing is 2013, upload the 2013 marksheet and complete Registration.

Problem 5: Payment not getting confirmed.
Solution 5: In case of payment made through Internet Banking (INB) of banks other than SBI, confirmation is taking time. In case any of the payments are not confirmed before the scheduled time of closing of online Registration, we shall try our best to resolve the issue. In case multiple payments have been made by a candidate, refund will be made at the earliest after getting data from payment gateway.

Problem 6: Category Certificate issued in Hindi.
Solution 6: Certificates in Hindi are acceptable if they are in proper format and contain all necessary information. The format given in this web page is a guide line.

Problem 7: OBC-NCL certificate format.
Solution 7: All OBC-NCL certificates in English/Hindi will be accepted subject to the following: (i) the caste mentioned must be in the Central List for your state; (ii) not belonging to Creamy Layer must be clearly mentioned; (iii) signed by competent authority of the rank of Tehsildar or above and (iv) issued after 1.06.2013
